Monument House, The City of London, London

A new residential building of 37 apartments, in a City of London conservation area.

With a poor-quality Victorian building occupying this site within a City of London conservation area, the developer sought a new approach from us after the previous architect had been unable to secure planning consent.

By careful contextual design and close coordination with the City planning department, we obtained consents first for a new office building and then subsequently for a new apartment building. Berkley Homes bought the site with planning consent and Monument House was then constructed to our design. The building comprises 37 apartments on all floors, which are mostly single aspect, and with underground parking beneath. Larger apartments are situated at the southern end, incorporating the grander tower rooms. The building was commended by The City of London Corporation.
