Sheppard Architects

Victoria Gardens, Notting Hill, London

A valuable planning consent gained for a new town house and mews development in a previously contentious location.

A prominent London developer turned to Sheppard Architects when a previous architect was unable to achieve planning consent on this constrained conservation area site in Notting Hill. Planning consent for three large houses and six mews units was achieved through careful analysis of the site and painstaking consultation with local neighbours. Extensive consultations with the local authority planning department contributed to a highly detailed and well worked out design which gained full officer support at committee. Local neighbours not only withdrew all previous objections but actively supported the scheme. Matters of scale, access, privacy and materials were all important aspects of the simple contemporary design.
